February 5
"Sinningia" - A Panel Discussion
Our February 5th program will be all about Sinningia. A panel of
experts will discuss the genus and answer all your questions about
growing these marvellous plants.
Bring in a plant or two for the discussion.
We will have the regular Mini Show and Show and Tell and a
sales table.
We meet at the Toronto Botanical Garden (click for map) at 777 Lawrence Ave East, Toronto, Ontario at 2:00 P.M. Please bring a guest.
We have knowledgeable speakers who present their expertise and experience in the various aspects of gesneriad growing.
A plant sales table and an auction is held at every meeting. This is a great way to get a new starter plant at a reasonable price.
Mini Show: Members are encouraged to bring in their plants for a mini show. The show is judged by accredited The Gesneriad Society judges, accompanied by clerks, and a discussion on the merits or problems of the plants follows. The show is run in such a fashion that everyone can ask questions, learn how to grow better looking plants and, at the same time, have an enjoyable time. An annual award will be presented to the person with the most points accumulated during the year.
Show & Tell: This forum is used to demonstrate a new or unusual plant, a new product on the market, or to ask for advice about a problem plant. All members are encouraged to participate and you are sure to learn something new.
The Social Committee organizes the refreshments and treats which are available during the break.
Library: We maintain a collection of periodicals, magazines and books about gesneriads and related subjects. These are available for loan to our members.
